6. Grace for the Moment

Jesus told us to not worry about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own! We can live today, today and we can live tomorrow, tomorrow. God's grace is sufficient for today, and God's grace will be sufficient for tomorrow, and grace for right now is all we need to be concerned with.

  1. Great stuff, Joel. What we think we want is insurance for the future: a current quantity large enough to sustain the "what-if's" that may come. However, I think this is why Jesus gave the grace of "manna" in the wilderness for just THAT day...only. [The only day he gave twice what they needed was the day before the Sabbath..again so they could rest in his provision on the Sabbath and not toil.]

On the surface, it seems stingy of God to not give us enough quantity to insure a reserve for several months; but the truth is, he's trying to free us from the chronic anxiety that comes with demanding we get tomorrow's grace [or manna] today.

    Keep rockin' it,Joel.

  3. I think you hit the nail right on the head, Jim. God is sufficient for right now and for always, and He wants us to trust in His sufficiency and save us the headache of all the worry and anxiety that comes when we don't see ourselves as His children who He loves and cares for deeply.
