I am growing in grace and am very grateful to have found your podcast. I am listening to all of your sermons from the beginning. I also looked up Steve Mcvey and one of the first things I saw him preach on was inclusion. I was wondering if either of you include this belief in your teaching. I find it to be absolutely ridiculous and was wondering what your thoughts are on it.
We neither embrace nor promote the teachings of inclusion or universalism. There are some teachers (fortunately not too many) who used to teach as we do, and we supported their work and considered them partners in proclaiming the message of grace, but can no longer do so as they've moved into the inclusion teachings.
In part of Luke (and other books) we find people who are wanting to be "followers" of Jesus, and Jesus lays down some pretty strict conditions for those who would be His followers, including "counting the cost." It's the same for those who would be His "disciples." Various times on the Growing in Grace podcast we've talked about the impossible requirements that Jesus lays down to to be His follower or to be His disciple, and here are a couple of more recent episodes on which we talked about this.

DeleteHey Joel - do you have a chart or something that you consider reliable that lists the dates of the writings of the New Testament epistles?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are many resources out there, but there is nothing particular that I am aware of.
DeleteCan you tell me what Jesus meant by "counting the cost" in Luke's gospel. Thank you.
