There is a widespread mentality in the church today that God is hiding from us and therefore we must search for Him and try to find Him, only to have Him run away and hide again once we've "found" Him. My special guest podcaster today is Aida Calder, and she talks about the insecurity and anxiety that this type of thinking brings about, and how a true view of our God who never leaves us nor forsakes us and is not hiding from us, will help to set us free.
Check out Aida's blog, Forgetting the Former Things, and also the Free Believers forum that she moderates.

The truth is that we are the ones hiding from him. from Garden of Eden until now God is asking us Where are You? he is the one chasing us and coming after us. Isn't the cross all about that? He came to seek and find the lost.
ReplyDeleteAida as always you do a great job articulating
the truth with grace. Love the part about God is hidden in us.

You're right, Jasmine. God never turns away from us. We're the ones who turn away from him which is why it's so important that we know that at the at the cross, we were set free from shame and a sin consciousness. Now, instead of focusing on our sin, we can focus on God's love and know that we're free to come before him any time we need to or want to. He'll always be there waiting.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of your encouragement.

This is a very encouraging, God has never left. We are the ones that hide, but thank God that his mercy pulls us out of the desert place and Grace shows usu the way. Enjoying these messages:)
ReplyDeleteYep indeed, Mike, God is always there, and the great news is that He isn't hiding from us but has hidden Himself in us and we enjoy constant fellowship with Him. :)
