We can have full confidence, as the Apostle Paul did, that it is God who began a good work in us, and it is God who will remain faithful to see His work through! While he gently assured the Philippians of this, he had to send a sharp message to the Galatians, who were trying to complete God's work through their own fleshly efforts. It's God, not us, who sees His work through to completion, and that's something we can rest in.

22. What Paul Counted as Rubbish
In Philippians 3, the Apostle Paul talked about things that had formerly been "gain" to him, but that he now counted as "rubbish" or "dung" so that he could have Christ. Many read or quote only part of the passage, and act as if Paul was talking about the the bad or sinful things of his past. But in reality, Paul was talking about the "good" things about his flesh that he formerly boasted in, including his zealous and "blameless" keeping of God's law. That's what he counted as dung and rubbish! That's what he had to give up... so that he could have Christ!

16. What Crazy People Think
There was some foolish and crazy thinking going on in the Galatian camp. They were putting forth their own fleshly efforts, thinking this would help them maintain their lives in Christ, and Paul had some strong words for them to try to set them straight!

1. Rooted and Established in Grace
Welcome to the Grace Roots podcast! This podcast is in addition to the Growing in Grace podcast that I do each week with Mike Kapler. The Grace Roots podcast will be shorter (perhaps no more than 1 to 3 minutes each) and will be sporadic, with no set interval between podcast episodes.
So here's the first podcast. In it, I encourage listeners to have their hearts rooted and established in God's grace, rather than in all their "trying" and "struggling" to get their Christian life right. Jesus calls us to rest and peace.
